Maker of Aerofinz

FAQ's  (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Q1:
Can I drive my car with Aerofinz installed?
A1:
YES! We have tested various installations in “real world” driving conditions on multiple cars for almost 3 years, with thousands of miles at highway speeds (and many additional miles at lesser speeds). Average highway speed over 70 mph, with a significant amount of miles in high wind conditions, including during “high wind advisories”. A much smaller number of  tested miles have occurred at speeds in excess of 100 mph. NOTE: WE DO NOT CONDONE OR ENCOURAGE DRIVING AT UNSAFE OR ILLEGAL SPEEDS, OR IMPLY OR EXPRESS ANY GUARANTEE OF AEROFINZ TO REMAIN SAFE AND INTACT IN SUCH CONDITIONS!

Of course proper installation, including prep, temperature, installation materials is a MUST!

Q2:  Can they be removed without any damage to my car?
A2:
YES!   Aerofinz attach ONLY to the rear window glass, never in contact with any painted body panel. Be absolutely assured they can be completely removed in minutes, using very simple hand tools. We have removed dozens of stanchions with no signs they were ever installed on the glass.

Q3:  Can I use an automatic car wash with Aerofinz installed?
A3:   Due to the simple fact we can not test or be aware of every type of automatic car wash in use, we CAN NOT recommend use of an automatic car wash with Aerofinz installed. First, simply remove the attaching hardware and the Finz themselves, leaving only the stanchions attached to the glass. Our Company cars are regularly cleaned at MANUAL hand operated washes with the Finz completely attached.

Q4:  How difficult is installation? Can I do it myself?
A4:   All necessary installation materials are included in the complete kit, including special cleaning preparation solution, template, etc. We even include the special Security Torx tool. It is a MUST that no piece be contaminated during the installation process and that proper conditions be strictly adhered to, such as temperature before/during/after, etc.   Generally, if you have moderate skills and actually READ AND FOLLOW instructions, it should be a relatively simple process. We will be adding a video of an actual installation and tips soon to assist and are working to establish possible installation sources. Any paint/body shop can easily install the kit.

Q5:  What guarantee do you offer?
A5:   We offer a 45 day total satisfaction guarantee. Return in new condition (even if installed and removed!)   during this period for any reason,   and we will refund your original purchase price, less handling/shipping charges and your expense to return (and damage, if any). First we ask you to contact us resolve any unexpected concerns, and we will extend your satisfaction guarantee period by an additional 30 days (75 total) if mutually agreed upon. We want you to be happy with your purchase!

Virtually all the components are made of commercial/industrial materials for long life. We further guarantee the product to be free of   defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 18 months. We will replace or repair any defect at our discretion during this period (installation, if necessary, not included). This covers defects, only, not damage or neglect to the finish itself, similar to the paint on your car.

Q6:  Do they hinder rear vision or visibility?
A6:  Aerofinz have been designed to minimally change outward visibility. Most drivers will not see all the mounting stanchions or possibly even all the Finz themselves from a normal driving position when looking through their rear view mirror. What is visible is primarily a thin horizontal line similar to a thick defroster grid line. Overall, visibility is reduced less than traditional rear louvers.

Q7:  Do they improve aerodynamics or add unnecessary weight?
A7:   Although no formal aerodynamic testing has been performed, the design suggests a possible air flow improvement over the rear of the vehicle. Total installed weight is less than 10 lbs for current applications.

Q8:   Do they help with heat build-up from the sun? Any other benefits besides great looks?
A8:  The area directly covered by the Finz is shaded, helping reduce heat build-up and potential sun damage to the interior. They further reduce significantly the build-up of morning mildew and frost.

Q9:  Can they be used year round?
A9:   YES! We are located in the very unpredictable weather area of Michigan, a perfect environment to test in.   Summer one day, Fall the next (literally!)  Although the Finz themselves will not crack or break, it is recommended heavy snow be removed as   soon as reasonably possible. One of our Company cars is left outside exposed to the weather and driven in many conditions in ongoing testing and marketing.

Q10:  Is the perimeter lighting available on your AeroFinz distracting to approaching drivers?  Is it legal?
A10:  We are in the process of testing all 10 available colors.  Our initial testing indicates the colors are not a distraction.  They illuminate a subtle gow, only seen in virtually dark conditions.  Street lights and headlights tend to "wash" out the lighting, making them difficult to see.  They do NOT glow or show nearly as strong as neon lighting, often used under cars, etc.  It is an entirely different material and lighting process.  Although we believe the lighting is likely an acceptable application in most/all cases, we must note, however, any doubt should be checked out by your local authorities.

Q11:  Does your new product line, AeroViewz, diminish outward visibility (real window racing stripes) or reduce intensity of the 3rd brake light (stripes, rear view camera eye.)  Are they legal?
A11:  The rear window racing stripes and the 3rd brake light stripes are made of high quality "see thru" perforated vinyl, identical to that used on bus, van and truck windows for advertising purposes (often printed with colors and Company names/logos.)  They are also identical to the popular pick-up truck back window coverings used for years.  Due to the use on the rear of the vehicle with less than half the actual window covered in most applications and the fact it is not a solid covering, and all the noted current uses, we are confident they are likely an acceptable application for your car as well.  We must note, however, any doubt should be checked out by your local authorities.  Regarding outward visibility, we have tested and designed the window stripes to restrict viewing as little as possible while still offering everyday practicality (we drive our cars daily!)  They do restrict vision somewhat, more so in rainy conditions.  Look for our pics showing actual view looking outward through the stripes.  Also check out our comparison, with and without the 3rd brake light mounted camera eye.  There is virtually no change witht he brake lights on.
